Introducing Funmi and Francis, a beautiful couple that is celebrating their love story at Granite Ridge. We cannot wait to see their vision come to life.
Tell me a little about you and your fiancé
"Our friendship began in college several years before we started dating." They stayed close friends throughout college and afterwards, when Francis moved to New York and Funmi to San Francisco. Fast forward a few years – Francis is now in Philadelphia completing his first year of residency and Funmi at Michigan wrapping up her Master’s degree in Health Informatics. "During one of our regular catch up conversations, Francis subtly noted that in just a few months we would both be in the Midwest, although many miles apart, still the closest in proximity since college. Since that point, our conversations were forever changed, and we have been together ever since."
How did you two get engaged?
"We had been dating for about two years, and we planned a trip to Ghana to visit Francis’ family and friends over the winter holidays." Francis had picked up the ring a few months prior and had already sought the blessing of Funmi’s parents. The details of how he was going to propose to Funmi had not been worked out yet; however, but he was certain he wanted it to be in Ghana. "Unknown to both of us, this moment would come sooner than we both expected. During the early hours of 1/1/2016 in his parent’s home, we were deep in conversation about what the new year may bring, when Francis spontaneously embraced the moment and asked me to be his life partner."
What vision do you have for your wedding?
"Classic Urban Rustic is how we would best describe our vision for the wedding. We are looking to create an experience for our friends and family that is unlike what they are used to, while still embracing our modern side given our urban upbringings. We are encouraging our friends and family to use this opportunity to explore Maine and the upper Northeast." How unique! Clearly these two have a clear, signature style.
What vendors are you excited about working with?
Of course they are thrilled about all their vendors, but there were a few standouts. For photography they've chosen Jaimee Morse, while their food and desserts will be provided by Granite Rodge staples, 111 Maine, and Lisa Parker of Cake for All Seasons.
Why did you choose Granite Ridge?
"We chose Granite Ridge because of the people: Jill, Anthony, and Micki. They are just the most honest, endearing and down to earth people you will ever meet. They truly make you feel like they are bringing you into their family."
