Winter is over and spring is here! Spring is my favorite season, and it's also a beautiful time to host a wedding. 2017 is the year to go bohemian and natural; incorporating as much natural materials into your decor, and gifts and gowns.
Hair
The spring is a perfect time for lots of beachy waves, loose braided crown and flowers weaved in to give that bright, ethereal look. If you’re like me and are obsessed with flower crowns, this is also the perfect time to wear one! Try baby’s breath, lavender or peony’s and wrap them with Queen Anne’s lace, wheat or cress.
Décor
Spring is fresh and fun, so try using just greenery in place of flowers. The bright green could be a perfect, bold accent to any wedding.
If you’re trying to think of unique decorations around the room, try going antiquing! That way you can find one of a kind items that can be repainted or repurposed for your event. Who said an old vanity or chest of drawers couldn’t be a perfect dessert table?
I have begun to follow so many calligraphy accounts on Instagram and something I see a ton of nowadays is watercolor painting! The beautiful gradient effect that watercolors are able to create could be the perfect way to spice up your invitations or table cards!
Try BOHO chic! Decorate your location with colorful tapestries, sunflowers and bold colorways. Instead of traditional pastels, use bright shades of orange and pink.
Guest Gifts
Get your guests growing by giving them seeds or bulbs to go out and plant themselves. What a lot of brides have done at Granite Ridge is send guests home with something homemade, like a sauce, limoncello or a seasonal jam!
Gowns
This season, your dress should be all about the details. As always, lace gowns are beautiful against a springtime backdrop – but spice it up a bit with embroidery, beading, or flowing sleeves, like the Jenny Packham dress pictured here. Instead of silk gowns, try out gowns with a fitted beaded bodice and a large organza or tulle skirt. Get even crazier and buy a dress that is a different color – like ice blue or a soft rosy pink. Demurely show some skin through a dress with sheer rib panels, or try a high-low wedding gown. The sky is the limit these days, so don’t feel trapped by tradition!
