I am super excited to introduce you guys to one of our beautiful Granite Ridge couples, Amy and her lovely fiancé Gerry. I had a blast getting to know the pair and their story and I know you will too!

How did you two meet and get to where you are today?

Amy, a native of Oregon, and Gerry, met at law school in Boston (OK so we are dealing NEW ENGLAND WEDDING, RUSTIC WEDDING, MAINE WEDDING, COUPLE
with geniuses,) but Amy explained that she didn’t go out with him right away. “He actually asked me to go out for hot chocolate and I don’t like hot chocolate so I said no!” This didn’t discourage him and Gerry soon asked Amy to dinner, to which she said yes. She referred to it as “the best date I’ve ever been on.” So because they aren’t already enough of an intimidating power couple, both Gerry and Amy are totally fit too! “One thing we immediately bonded over was running, and we used to run together nearly every night after class.” Amy explained that one of the best parts of their relationship is having strong foundation of friendship. “We really are best friends and on our first date, we talked for HOURS and it felt so easy because we just click.”

How did you two get engaged?

(This is always my favorite part of the interview.) On the day that Gerry proposed, Amy woke up feeling sick and not super keen on doing much. Gerry, on the other hand, had pre-planned a full day in order to set the scene for the perfect proposal. Amy’s mother and siblings were even in town! The main excursion of the day was a guided tour through the Old North Church in Boston. Amy laughed saying, “Of course it was a sweet idea, but I wasn’t feeling good so at that point I just said, “Ok but why do we have to do this at 10am on a Saturday morning?!” Of course Amy did go, and she was reluctant to discover that part of the tour was climbing hundreds of steps to the top, “I was still sick so I felt like I was on the verge of passing out, but we had barely gotten half way!” Thankfully, the guide directed to couple to a balcony that looked out over the entire city. It was there that he popped the unexpected question.

Do you have a vision for your wedding?

The main vision the couple has for their wedding is it being a fun, happy party with their NEW ENGLAND WEDDING, RUSTIC WEDDING, MAINE WEDDING, COUPLE, lawyersfamily and friends. In appreciation for the natural beauty of Maine, Amy said that she wants her wedding to be natural and simple. Her and he fiancé love the view at Granite Ridge so they feel it’s the perfect backdrop to a rustic but elegant wedding.

What vendors are you excited to work with?

“We are really excited to work with ALL our vendors!” The first name the couple dropped was Broadturn Farms, which is a family, owned and operated farm and barn that dedicatedly grows and delivers all-natural, seasonal produce and flowers. For the bar service, they have chosen The Bar Association and the pair raved saying, “everyone we’ve spoken to just sounds so fun!” They selected the genius that is The Winey Baker to provide desserts. She is a genius because she uses wine in all of her recipes! Blue Elephant will be catering the event and as usual, Fausto’s “life-saving” help has been nothing short of a gift to the couple. Both Amy and Gerry are very excited about their photographers, Thomson and Thomson. They are actually a married couple that does events together!

Why did you choose Granite Ridge?

“I knew I wanted my wedding outside and I knew I wanted my reception in a barn, so when we also saw the view at Granite Ridge we were instantly sold.” The natural beauty of the mountain appealed to Amy’s “outdoorsy” Oregon roots. “It reminded me a little bit of home.” In addition to the physical beauty of the place, Amy and Gerry both explained how welcomed they felt by the Fratianne family. “There was nothing but warmth coming from Micki and Jill and never once did it feel salesy. It felt like they were just excited to meet us and excited for us to have a beautiful wedding.”
