I recently attended the BESWOON event on March 8th, 2014 at the Westin Portland Harborview Hotel in Portland, Maine.
What is BESWOON?
BESWOON is a curated bridal showcase aimed to inspire all of the little details that go in to planning a Maine wedding. This year, there were three different theme stagged weddings, a cocktail reception, and a fashion show. There were vendors that showcased their talent in food, music, decorations, invitations, fashion and venues. Here are my favorite things from the event that will transform your barn wedding.
1. Fashion Show - Andrea's BridalFashion shows at wedding and bridal shows are always fun. You get to see a local business showcasing their selections of trendy new styles for the brides and grooms who are planning their big day. Andrea's Bridal offered three different themes to coincide with the themes of the three rooms. All of the models were beautiful, with hair and makeup done by Bei Capelli Hair Salon.
2. Cupcake Food Truck - Love Cupcakes and KupCakes, Inc.
Food trucks are becoming more and more popular, especially in major cities. Portland is quickly becoming a foodie destination so the city is following suit with the food truck trend. How perfect to have a moveable restaurant! This offers couples planning their Maine barn wedding the option of having something very unique on their day- a food truck! At the BESWOON event, I was more than delighted to see the Love Cupcakes and KupCakes, Inc. parked in front of the Westin Hotel. Having this at any event would put smiles on your guest's faces.
3. Gatsby Glamour - Minott's Flowers and A.Watson design
My favorite part of this room was the extravagant, high centerpieces and sparkly gold accents in the table design. It was fun, classy and elegant. The neutral tone flowers throughout, feathers adding a softness to the centerpiece; the sparkles adding a final glamorous touch to the tie in the theme. I loved how the centerpieces demanded attention and kept your eyes moving throughout the room.
4. Rustic Elegance - Nothing Bakes Like a Parrot
Dessert bars are a great way to get your guests up and moving during the reception. Generally, there are more options than just the wedding cake just in much smaller portions, with the wedding cake as the showpiece. I really admired how the bar was set up, with the different heights of the pedestals, accessory pieces: wooden boxes, old scales, and shutters to add that rustic component and overall cohesive theme.
5. Coastal Romance - El's Cards
I adore these handmade pieces of art to incorporate into your wedding. El's Cards is making several components to one of our first weddings, Anna and Ken, to be held here at Granite Ridge Estate & Barn. Every piece you order is hand painted and beautifully designed to match your theme. We are so excited to see what El's Cards will do for our couple and many more to come.
Overall, BESWOON was a very well organized wedding show. The rooms were all beautifully decorated according to their respective theme. Anyone who is planning a wedding could find inspiration at every turn, with every detail covered. We are looking forward to seeing what our barn will look like with each couple that will come in and create their vision. Here is a picture of all my loot!
